The WLB is the most efficient institution for the regional and supra-regional supply of information and literature in Baden-Wuerttemberg. Approximately six million media are available in the reading rooms and stacks for research, teaching, vocational and general education. These include book materials, newspapers and magazines, manuscripts, old and valuable prints, music, as well as maps, graphics, posters, field post letters, photographs, microforms and electronic media. Over one million media units are borrowed every year.

Stuttgart University Library (UB) is part of the Information and Communication Centre of the University of Stuttgart (IZUS). With its two main locations and its 116 institute and faculty libraries, the University Library forms the library system of the University of Stuttgart.
The University Library thus guarantees the best possible supply of literature and information for research, teaching and study. Its declared aim is to help shape the transformation of an increasingly globalised and digitalised information landscape for the benefit of its university and non-university users.

The library sees itself as a central location for self-directed learning and intensively promotes the media and information skills of its customers in the form of advice and training programmes. In total, the library offers over 180 reading and workstations on 1200 m2. There are rooms for training courses, group work, seminars and events. There are work areas for small groups, teams and individual learners in the Learning World (Nobelstr. 10), which is managed by the library, and in the Learning Centre (Bib OG). In the learning studio (Bib OG), the library offers a noise-protected room with silent work facilities.
The university library has over 40,000 specialist books on social sciences, technology, economics and health as well as around 180 specialist journals. In addition, there is a wide range of databases, 27,600 journals in electronic form and approx. 400,000 e-books. In the learning island you will find important specialised literature on the field of social work.
