With the Macromedia Catalog you can find digital media (e-books, journals and databases) and basic information about our onsite offers.

All our books are displayed on open shelves, which means users can access them directly at their campus library. If you search in our Macromedia Catalog, you will find all the books that are available at any campus.Therefore, please use the location filter to select the library of your campus in order to only find literature that is available at your location.

Digital media can be accessed via the Macromedia Catalog from anywhere, including your home. This includes e-books from Spinger and digital media from the WISO database. Please note that there are different copyrights depending on the databases.

Additional databases

Statista is a statistics portal with studies and results from over 18,000 sources on over 80,000 topics. The statistics are sourced from 20 different industries, ranging from agriculture to travel, tourism & hospitality. There are also infographics on current affairs and dossiers on key topics.

On campus, you can research once you are logged into the Service Hub. Remote access is available after registering on the website.

In the university publication server Macromedia Publications you can find academic publications of the university.

The Open Research Library offers access to more than 20.000 E-Books within topics such as economics and history but also design, games, music and (performing) arts. The content of the Open Research Library can be searched via standard search as well as advanced search. It is also easily possible to navigate by topics and download books from there.

DOAB: Directory of Open Access Books

The Directory of Open Access Books offers access to almost 30.000 scientific, peer-reviewed e-books. The Directory of Open Access offers content in subjects such as economics and business, law, politics, statistics or social sicences and many more.

IntechOpen offers moreo than 4700 peer-reviewed e-books. IntechOpen’s content can be browsed or searched.

Google Scholar

Google Scholar is a search engine specifically designed to retrieve academic literature. Result lists include both free and fee-based content, which usually are full texts. The Google Scholar index contains more than 400 million documents.

Performing a search on Google Scholar functions the same way as a regular Google search at first. Search results can then be filtered by publication date / period. Often, Google Scholar directly links to the website which provides access to retrieved documents.

BASE (Bielefeld Academic Search Engine)

BASE is an academic search engine provided by Bielefeld University. BASE indexes more than 150 million documents of which up to 60% are free of charge full texts. Content indexed by BASE include academic journals, repositories and digital collections.

BASE offers both a standard and an enhanced search, additionally the BASE index can be browsed in various ways. Search results can be filtered. Furthermore, one’s own search history is recorded and can be used to circle back to previous results. Search results’ full texts will either be displayed directly after a click on the title or clicking the title will lead to the vendor’s page from where the full text can be accessed.

Ingenta Connect

Ingenta Connect is an academic search engine, which indexes more than 5 million journal articles. Some of those are free access.

Journal articles on Ingenta Connect can be retrieved via a standard and an advanced search. Additionaly articles can be browsed by subject, journal or publishing house.

Science Direct

Science Direct is a full-text scientific database operated by the publisher Elsevier. Science Direct provides free access to open access journal articles. According to the publisher, this includes over 1.2 million articles. These are marked with a green dot when found from a search on Science Direct. In addition, Science Direct offers the ability to browse through open access journals via the “open access” link.

SAGE

SAGE Journals offers a large inventory of open access journals. In the Advanced Search you can also search for them directly. Just set the Access Type to “Open access content only”.

DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals)

The Directory of Open Access Journals contains more than 14,000 journals, of which more than 11,000 are searchable at article level. There is the possibility of a simple search in journals and articles. Additionally, there is the possibility to browse by subject or to use the advanced search.
