Macromedia Catalog

With the Macromedia Catalog you can find digital media (e-books, journals and databases) and basic information about our onsite offers.

All our books are displayed on open shelves, which means users can access them directly at their campus library. If you search in our Macromedia Catalog, you will find all the books that are available at any campus.Therefore, please use the location filter to select the library of your campus in order to only find literature that is available at your location.

Digital media can be accessed via the Macromedia Catalog from anywhere, including your home. This includes e-books from Spinger and digital media from the WISO database. Please note that there are different copyrights depending on the databases.

JSTOR

JSTOR is a journal article database with full-text access. They provide access to more than 12 million academic journal articles, books, and primary sources in 75 disciplines. All journal content in JSTOR published prior to 1924 in the United States and prior to 1876 elsewhere is freely available.

Statista

Statista is a statistics portal with studies and results from over 18,000 sources on over 80,000 topics. The statistics are sourced from 20 different industries, ranging from agriculture to travel, tourism & hospitality. There are also infographics on current affairs and dossiers on key topics.

WISO

WiSo-Net offers access to the following digital resources with a main focus on economics as well as current daily daily press:

·        about 340 specialized journal und 1.900 e-books

·        Press: full-text access to over 180 newspaper from Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Communication Source

Communication Source is the most comprehensive full-text database in the field of communication studies. It includes hundreds of renowned journals, magazines, and other sources in the field of communication and related disciplines, including media studies, linguistics, speech pathology, rhetoric, and many more.

Springer offers access to over a million open access resources, including journal articles, book chapers and complete e-books. These can be found via:

The Open Research Library offers access to more than 20.000 E-Books within topics such as economics and history but also design, games, music and (performing) arts.

Academic Search Engines

Google Scholar

Google Scholar is a search engine specifically designed to retrieve academic literature. Result lists include both free and fee-based content, which usually are full texts. The Google Scholar index contains more than 400 million documents.

Open Google Scholar

Performing a search on Google Scholar functions the same way as a regular Google search at first. Search results can then be filtered by publication date / period. Often, Google Scholar directly links to the website which provides access to retrieved documents.

BASE (Bielefeld Academic Search Engine)

BASE is an academic search engine provided by Bielefeld University. BASE indexes more than 150 million documents of which up to 60% are free of charge full texts. Content indexed by BASE include academic journals, repositories and digital collections.

Open BASE (Bielefeld Academic Search Engine)

BASE offers both a standard and an enhanced search, additionally the BASE index can be browsed in various ways. Search results can be filtered. Furthermore, one’s own search history is recorded and can be used to circle back to previous results. Search results’ full texts will either be displayed directly after a click on the title or clicking the title will lead to the vendor’s page from where the full text can be accessed.

IMF eLibrary

The IMF eLibrary is a data base which provides access to all IMF resources. The data base comprises e-books (analytical papers, working papers etc), journals (World Economic Outlook, Regional Economic Outlooks, Global Financial Stability Report, Finance & Development) as well as statistics (International Financial Statistics, Direction of Trade, Balance of Payments and Government Finance Statistics).

The IMF eLibrary can be searched via simple or advanced search. Result lists can be searched separately via the left hand menu. It is also possible to filter the results via the ‘Narrow Your Choices’ option. Please note that it is necessary to update result lists after chosing any filters by clicking on the magnifying glass.

Ingenta Connect is an academic search engine, which indexes more than 5 million journal articles. Some of those are free access.
