Using the library

University members

The Macromedia Library can be used by all members of the university (students, teaching staff and administrative staff). Information about different user groups and loan conditions can be found under Borrowing items.

Registration

You can use your campus library at any time during opening hours without prior registration. The OPAC search functions are also available without registration. However, you will need to register in order to make use of personal functions in the OPAC (e.g. borrowing items).

Students and teaching staff

Students and teaching staff who wish to register simply need to submit a signed and completed registration form at their campus library. After submitting the form, users will receive a welcome email with their account information.

Other university members

Administrative staff who wish to set up a library account should enquire with their campus library. In order to register they will need a registration form, which they can complete prior to coming to the library. After registering, they will receive a welcome email with their account information.

External users

The Macromedia Library is available to all interested users. Information about loan conditions for external users can be found in the Loans section.

Registration

You can use the library on the spot at any time during opening hours without prior registration. The OPAC search functions are also available without registration. However, individual registration is required in order to borrow books from the Macromedia Library.

You will need to register in person at the library you wish to borrow books from. Please bring your completed registration form with you. Library staff will explain all further details at the time of registration. No charges apply for external users.

Digital resources

Our digital resources (electronic journals, databases, national licences, e-books, bachelor’s and master’s theses) are only available to members of the university. They cannot be accessed by external users.

Digital resources (with the exception of JSTOR and Statista) can only be accessed on campus. To access these resources, users need to log in on an university computer or on their own device (laptop, tablet, smartphone). After logging in, they will have access to all resources.
